The Evolution of GCCs

India's tech centers are becoming innovation hubs and are no longer cost reduction centers

“A third of Nvidia is here in India… We’ve been in Bangalore for almost 25 years. India designs Nvidia’s chips, writes Nvidia software, designs Nvidia systems, and develops a lot of Nvidia’s algorithms.” - Jensen Huang , CEO of Nvidia.

India's role in global technology is often misunderstood. Having experienced its Technology and Global Capability Center (GCC) landscape firsthand, I've observed clear trends that challenge this perception.

Take NVIDIA, the driving force behind today's AI revolution. In a recent interview with The Economic Times, CEO Jensen Huang emphasized that India should more strongly move on from its traditional role as an IT cost reduction center to become a true innovation powerhouse.

This transformation is already underway.

According to Zinnov, GCCs are evolving significantly:
▶ Their strategic influence within companies continues to grow
▶ They have matured into hubs of high-value expertise
▶ They're increasingly driving innovation rather than just providing support

For multinational companies, their leadership and real estate teams, the message is clear: maintaining a presence in India is no longer just about cost efficiency.

These GCCs are emerging as crucial innovation hubs. And will grow.

The question isn't whether India has potential – it's how quickly it will be realized.

Do you see the potential?
